Lawrence "Ben" Benford first formulated KleenShave anti-bump shaving cream in Austin, Texas in 1987. The motivation to create a natural ingredient black men shaving product came from his time in the military. At that time, there were very few products designed for the number one African American shaving issue; pseudofolliculitis barbae. Everyday shaving for black men was often a choice between razor bumps, a shaving profile, or the use of a smelly chemical depilatory.

Over the years, Ben refined his KleenShave products over and over; and through the many years family and friends used them , they experienced the KleenShave easy shaving solution with long lasting results.

It June 2006, KleenShave.Com was launched with the mission to make KleenShave shaving and skin care products available around the globe.
